What we now call the Adobe style in North America has been in place since the 1600s, but the core building technique goes back thousands of years. These structures are not suitable for every climate, but in areas like the deserts of the Southwest US and Mexico the thick walls provide excelent thermal control to combat hot days and chilly nights.
